Polishing: the critic reads the translation

How to translate a book in AuthorCat · 2:38 · starts at this section, 1:44

The critic — another model — reads an accepted chapter and marks places where the translation loses the meaning or the author’s voice, departs from the glossary or does not read like native text. Polishing is optional.

  1. Open “Polishing”. In the “How the critic reads” block, choose “Checks against the original” or “Reads as native text — without the original”.
  2. Click Critic: all accepted chapters, or select a chapter and click Critic: this chapter.
  3. The notes are grouped by kind: meaning, glossary, language norm, style, not native. Tick the ones you agree with (Tick all open notes ticks them all at once) and click Give to the assistant. Remove the rest with Dismiss.
  4. The assistant suggests edits only in those paragraphs — accept the ones you need. If a chapter was edited after the critic read it, it is marked “edited”: some notes may be out of date, so have the critic read it again.
