Original and structure: chapters before translation

How to translate a book in AuthorCat · 2:38 · starts at this section, 0:17

The translation goes chapter by chapter. In this section you check how the book was split into chapters and mark what does not need translating.

  1. Open “Original and structure”. The “Structure” tab lists the chapters with their character counts.
  2. For each chapter, choose what to do with it: “Translate”, “Do not translate” for the table of contents and the imprint, “Bibliography” for the reading list, “Notes” for the notes. What is not translated goes into the finished book as in the original; notes are translated separately from the text.
  3. You can edit a chapter title right in the list. The Merge with next button joins two chapters.
  4. To split a chapter, open the “Chapters” tab, select the chapter, click ✂ next to the paragraph that will start the new chapter, then click Split. Once the trial chapter is translated, chapters can be renamed and marked, but not merged or split.
  5. If the book is a scan or photos of pages, first click Recognise the pages: the chapters appear after recognition. On the “Pages” tab, the page image is on the left and the recognised text on the right.
