Trial chapter and style samples

How to translate a book in AuthorCat · 2:38 · starts at this section, 1:02

The trial chapter checks the tone before the whole book is translated. The machine takes style samples for the other chapters from your edits.

  1. Open “Trial chapter and samples”. In the “Chapter” field, choose a chapter.
  2. The chapter is translated block by block: translation, editor, meaning check, native reader. Each AI call is a line in the log: what was done, by which model and how long it took.
  3. Read the translation next to the original, edit paragraphs right in the translation column and click Save. An edited paragraph is marked “your edit”.
  4. Click Build samples — the machine picks three “original — translation” pairs: description, action and dialogue, mainly from your edits. Then click Run automation for the whole book — the chapters are translated and accepted on their own.
  5. If the tone is wrong, click Translate again: the chapter is translated again, and your earlier edits stay in the version history.
